High Stakes Poker Night

What to Wear
The Carpe World Club Shirt: For a night of high stakes gambling it’s important to dress the part. The World Club Shirt is crisp and refined without looking overdone.
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille: Tobacco Vanille, from the Tom Ford Private Blend smells like pipe tobacco--in the best way. Described by Tom Ford Beauty as “a modern take on an old world men’s club”, the cologne mixes scents of tobacco leaf, tonka bean, tobacco flower, vanilla, cocoa, dried fruit and sweetwood sap.

What to Smoke
His Majesty's Reserve: If you’re wearing Tobacco Vanille, you may as well heighten the experience with a first-rate cigar. The His Majesty’s Reserve cigar is made with premium tobacco and is infused with Louis XIII Cognac.

What to Play With
Vargas Playing Cards: For a real gentlemen’s club feel, Vargas playing cards are a great option. The cards, featuring the famous Alberto Vargas pinups of the 1940’s, are a throwback to timeless glamour.

Item We Love: Barker Black Loafers

Barker Black, named after a 19th century British regiment, was originally founded in 1880. The shoes, which are made from French and Italian Calf, are made from scratch. The Barker Black Wolfe Loafer, featured here is made of mahogany leather, and silvertone bit detail. We love these shoes because of their sophisticated aesthetic and edgy undertones. While the shoes appear refined, if you look closely you’ll notice the metal crossbones detail on the strap. Paired with the Carpé Legend Shirt, this ensemble gives an otherwise classic look a distinctly modern twist.

Spring Launch Event

Carpé is proud to launch its new Spring/Summer 2009 collection at Bill Hallman’s North Highland store. The event will be held from 7pm to 10pm. Immediately following the Bill Hallman event, an after party will be held at the Whiskey Park at the W Hotel in Midtown Atlanta. The after party event will feature sounds from Dj Smiles and Greg Mike. For more information visit our website at www.carpeusa.com.

The French Laundry

The Carpe & Co sport shirt, seen here in a true red and white bengal stripe, features a button down collar, and a nice wash for a worn look and comfortable feel. It's quite versatile; whether out on the deck enjoying a Cuban cigar or on the 18th hole putting for dough, this style shields you from a strong sea breeze but breathes well in a heat wave. It also looks great lounging pool side, unbuttoned casually, or out to dinner at THE FRENCH LAUNDRY in Napa Valley Cali, with the girl and her folks enjoying some of the finest foie gras en terrine this side of the Mississippi. The Maine Lobster, flown in daily, is equally as palatable.

Sports: Harvard-Yale Regatta

The annual boating race dates back to 1852 and is the oldest collegiate athletic competition in the United States. Carpé Rugbys like the Sailing Co. Polo would be a great look if you’re planning on attending a piece of history this year in New London, Connecticut.

Q & A Session with Carpé National Sales Director Matthew Klein

Q: What do you do on a day to day basis?
A: Everything and anything that needs to be done for our business. Usually it involves project management, sales appointments, and anything in between......

Q: What led you to a career in fashion?
A: Since I was young, I have always had an itch for clothing and always wanted to carve out my own niche......

Q: What is your basic style mantra?
A: I definitely am a firm believer in form follows function. Also don't stray too far away from what works, it works for a reason, so taking something that has always been a staple and adding your own twist or flair is the best type of fashion in my eyes........"Reinventing classic tradition with a modern twist".

Q: Do you have any previous experiences that led you to where you are
today?
A:Honestly, my environment. You are a product of your environment and where you fit in........that really pushed me to get where I am today.......that and the passing of my father, he was my biggest hero and mentor, and gives me the strength to persevere.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about your job?
A: Seeing something you have created come to life. I love to walk into Saks, or Fred Segal and see something we have worked on being sold. That was always my dream since we started.........

Q: What is your favorite piece of clothing from Carpé?
A: I love Carpé’s Rugbys. They are 100 percent my favorite pieces in the collection; fun and energetic with a classic feel.

Q: Where do you see Carpé going in the future?
A: Carpé has the ability to be something truly amazing. It’s so classic Americana, I mean it could really grow into something great. I see it as a lifestyle brand with free standing flag ship stores.
